The director of Danish military intelligence Thomas Arenkiel at a special press conference published specific facts of aggressive behavior of the Russian military.
“We witnessed several incidents in the Danish Straits, where helicopters of Danish Air Force and warships became targets for radar tracking systems and physically targeted weapons from Russian warships,” he said.
According to him, Russian ships also deliberately went to a collision with Danish ships during their passage through the straits.
Arenkiel reported that one of the Russian warships has been standing in the Danish waters for over a week. Intelligence regards this as a signal from Moscow to use force if Denmark tries to limit the movement of the Russian “shadow fleet” – tankers used to bypass Western sanctions for oil export.
In addition, intelligence recorded the passage of Russian ships through ducts with active hydraulic water and equipment for the creation of radio -electronic obstacles. Arenkiel stated that “very likely” that at least in one case they caused significant disruptions in GPS in Denmark.
“Russia uses military means, including aggressive pressure to put pressure on us without moving on the boundaries of armed conflict in the traditional sense,” Arenkin summed up, calling these actions a part of a hybrid war against Denmark and the West.
On Friday, the White House stated that he was “very serious” about the provocations of the Russian Fleet against Denmark.
“The administration is constantly monitoring the situation. The White House National Security Council maintains a constant connection with our NATO allies, and the President communicates with many of them,” the White House spokeswoman Kerline Levitt told reporters.
