As reported, in April 2024, the wife of a military serviceman, who ran her husband’s transportation company while he was serving, turned to the SBI.
The enterprise served one of the Kyiv routes. The woman complained about systemic pressure from the official and threats to terminate the current contract for passenger transportation if she does not agree to “cooperation”.
In particular, the company had to transfer 40,000 hryvnias weekly to the official through a controlled company for the right to work on the route.
The law enforcement officers detained the businessman-intermediary immediately after receiving another “tranche” for the official.
A number of searches were conducted, during which documents and equipment confirming illegal activities were seized. The official was removed from duty.
The two defendants are accused of receiving an unlawful benefit (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty for a term of up to 10 years.
