Rescuer from Poltava Andrii Grechany ran a 21-kilometer half-marathon and set a Ukrainian record.
This was reported to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Grechany participated in the Third Charity Marathon, which took place in Cherkasy. The rescuer covered a distance of 21 kilometers, while he was in full equipment for the entire race, which has a total weight of 22.5 kilograms.
Grechany dedicated his race to his colleague Mykola Nechiporenko from the Dnipropetrovsk region, who died on June 22. The man was seriously injured when he eliminated the consequences of an enemy attack.
“Thanks to such events, we not only honor the memory of fallen heroes, but also bring Victory closer by uniting around a common goal — supporting those who are fighting for life and peace in our country,” Andriy noted.
The State Emergency Service noted that during the race “the rescuer demonstrated incredible strength, endurance and perseverance.”
