A 51-year-old man told police that on November 20 he was at home with a 36-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man. They noticed that a commercial vehicle with three people was parked nearby.
The car raised the suspicion of a 51-year-old man who, along with a 72-year-old man, approached the car to check it out. When they approached the car, they were allegedly attacked by three unknown persons, whose faces were covered by surgical masks. The two applicants responded, causing the assailants to flee, leaving the vehicle at the scene.
Further examination revealed that the license plates on the commercial vehicle belonged to another vehicle, and a handgun with an empty magazine and other evidence was located and seized inside.
Larnaca police are looking for the attackers.
As Cyprus Mail writes, Larnaca police are investigating the attempted kidnapping of a 51-year-old man, who is believed to be a former Ukrainian official.
According to the police, the incident happened on Thursday, November 20 at around 19:20. A 51-year-old man reported that three unknown men tried to forcibly drag him into a van.
It is noted that both 51-year-old and 72-year-old men received minor injuries.
For reference: 10 years ago (from December 2014 to April 2016), the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine in the second government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk was Volodymyr Demchyshyn, he was born on November 12, 1974, that is, Demchyshyn is now 51 years old.
On the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Demchyshyn is marked as a wanted person.

- Volodymyr Demchyshyn served as Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine from December 2014 to April 2016.
- The Security Service of Ukraine stated that from December 2014 to February 2015, he appointed representatives of the terrorist organizations “DPR” and “LPR” as heads of state-owned enterprises in the occupied territories and forced the heads of the state energy generating company to conclude agreements with them, in particular, on the supply of coal for a total amount of more than 3 billion hryvnias.
- On November 12, 2021, the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigation notified Volodymyr Demchyshyn of suspicion of aiding terrorists.
- On November 25, 2021, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv gave permission to detain Demchyshyn in order to cause him to participate in the consideration of the petition for the application of a preventive measure in the form of detention. According to the court, the ex-minister was summoned 4 times for questioning by the investigator, but he did not come.
- According to the SBI, Demchyshyn is hiding from Ukrainian justice abroad.
- In January 2022, Demchyshyn was declared internationally wanted in connection with the supply of coal from the occupied territories of eastern Ukraine in 2014-2015 and assistance to the so-called “DPR” and “LPR”.
