The Cuban government’s statement gave few details, but said all those killed were members of the Cuban armed forces and intelligence services.
Literally from a statement by the Cuban government: “Faithful to their security and defense responsibilities, our compatriots performed their duty with dignity and heroism and died after fierce resistance in direct combat with attackers or as a result of bombing targets.”
Details: Reuters notes that Cuba has provided Maduro with some security since he came to power. It is not known how many Cubans were guarding the Venezuelan dictator when they died, and how many may have died elsewhere.
