Children’s palliative is when life becomes more

For 17 years in charity, I saw thousands of children. But she could not always find them immediately. See. Because someone made them invisible before. They were, they hurt, they died silently – but invisibly.

I still dream of those views – desperate, empty, too adults for seven years. Folds led by babies, who are sore, but no one sees. And the silence in which they are used to living. Their bodies shouted: the chances, pain without anesthesia, years without hugs, without questions “where it hurts”. ⠀

In Oleshki, in Nizhyn, in Magno, in the villages on the edge of the map, where there is neither a doctor, nor a volunteer nor a chance. Without diagnosis, without intervention, without trying to understand.

My native man was a beautiful Sandy – a girl I took care of saving from the system. Now she is inspiration for me. There are thousands of such children. Children who were not allowed to speak in time, move, keep a spoon or play. They were not given not only rehabilitation – they were not given hope. Because they did not ask what hurt. ⠀

I did not know the word “palliative” at the time. But I knew that living next to it and silent was unbearable. Because they were children who were set by the stamp “hopeless”. But we were done hopeless – adults. Those who gave up.

And I saw others. Those we fought for. To the blood on the heart. Aloud. In all possible instances, on all available platforms. Yurchik, Sashko, Nadiyka, Florinchik, Bogdan, Angelinka … Now they have life. They learn, they live in families, they can laugh and dream. Because we managed. Because they were given a chance. ⠀

When a full -scale war began, it became clear that children in the palliat have nowhere to export. No one wanted to take responsibility. Then we created the Hospice of the House of Butterflies. Not because we could have resources. No. And because otherwise – in no way. Because someone had to say: these children are worth everything. ⁣⁣⠀

Two years have passed: during this time we saw hundreds of stories. And every time – history begins the same: lost time. He is not visible immediately, but he hurts for years. Unpaved hydrocephalus that tease the baby’s head and destroy the brain. Scoliosis, from which even experienced surgeons cry. Hunger through a split palate. The abdomen, swollen from bowel obstruction, – and children who cannot even sit. Pressure ulcers. Eternal probes. And children who have never seen foam in the bath. Were not walking on the street. They did not eat enough. ⠀

Most of them are without relatives. Quite. They did not know what to be needed. They did not know that someone could believe in them.

We at the House of butterflies sometimes begin the history of childhood from scratch. From a blank sheet. Complete diagnosis. The first MRI. The first analysis. The first neuroson. Special diet. Embrace. Music. Walking in the therapeutic garden. Canister therapy. Cartoons. Teaching. And someone who sees you is truly.

These children are not “lying”. They are visible. ⠀

Palliatical is not about loss. It’s about the victory of life. ⠀

I really want palliative children to hear. To make them part of our plans, budgets, decisions. Our strategies and tactics. To make light in the palliative. Not pity – but dignity. Not oblivion – but development. Celebrating every day of life. Because every child deserves not to fight for survival, but to the right to childhood. ⠀

That is why we embody the first conference for the sake of saving children in a palliative – a conference, where these children are realized – in the “butterfly house” of the city of good on 15 and 16 August.

Butterflies of Hope are two days for all responsible adults – doctors, managers, managers, social workers, socially responsible business, thought leaders – unite in order to change this reality. So that the big and strong ones would not be afraid of small and defenseless. To embody the best they are capable of. ⠀

I dream of such a world. And we are capable of miracles when we unite. These miracles have the names of the children we saved. ⠀

Talk about your children’s palliative boldly. Then life becomes more.
