The celebration of the City Day in Brovary began with a race in which anyone who wanted to could take part, provided that they made a donation to the Ukrainian army.
“Today, this race is in memory of our heavenly soldiers. Today is our race in support of our prisoners of war. Today is our race as a sign of respect to the armed forces of Ukraine. And today our race is that we are Ukrainians, unconquered, patriotic, independent and indomitable Glory to Ukraine!” – the mayor of Brovary Ihor Sapozhko congratulated the participants of the race.
However, the start had to be slightly delayed due to an air disturbance, which, fortunately, did not last long.
This year’s race was organized under the motto of full inclusiveness. Children also took part in the event. Older participants conquered the distance of three and five kilometers. Among them were military personnel who are currently on leave or undergoing rehabilitation after being wounded. Each of the participants of the race who reached the finish line received a commemorative award.
During this charity event, more than 130,000 hryvnias were collected in support of the Armed Forces.
For security reasons, further events took place in the City Cultural Center “Prometheus”.
Everyone could watch a concert program and a performance dedicated to the difficulties that Ukraine overcame on the way to independence.
After that, there was a ceremonial laying of flowers on the graves of heroes who gave their lives to protect the Motherland.
“We must remember, have every name of our hero engraved in our hearts… Remember the price of the sun, air, and our Independence,” Ihor Sapozhko recalled.
