“The confiscation procedure takes place within the framework of the Canadian Law on Special Economic Measures and the confiscation decision is currently made by the High Court of Ontario,” Viceremeki said.

Canadian media have previously reported that the lawsuit of the Prosecutor General of Canada to the High Court of Ontario was filed on March 18.

Stephanyshina called the claim on the confiscation of the An-124 “the common result of the painstaking work of the Ministry of Justice, the Foreign Ministry in close cooperation with our partners.”

As the official clarified, the confiscation of Canada’s confiscation was filed after the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine submitted to Canadian partners a decision of the Supreme Anti -Corruption Court of August 2023 on the use of sanctions of a transport aircraft.

It should be reminded that the previous Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau in 2023 promised to transfer to Ukraine the Russian transport aircraft An-124, detained at the Toronto Airport.

Also we will remind that Canada became the first country to adopt the law on the procedure of confiscation of Russian assets in favor of Ukraine.
