“Regarding the 20th package of sanctions, we aim to come out with it on February 24,” Kallas said.
She reported that EU member states are proposing various sanctions, including “a total ban on maritime services, as well as the issue of energy sanctions and mineral fertilizers.”
“I mean, these are proposals on the table. So, the work continues,” said the EU’s chief diplomat.
Kaya Kallas noted that she could not say that, as of now, there is agreement among the EU states on the contents of the package.
“I can’t say that we have an agreement now, otherwise we would have already announced that we have an agreement. But today we had many conversations (about it) – and now we continue to work on it,” she said.
As “Evropeyska Pravda” reported, next week the European Commission is expected to publish a proposal for a new, 20th package of EU sanctions against Russia.
It is known that France wants the 20th package of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation to be “especially tough” with regard to the “shadow fleet”.
A group of European commissioners, which will include EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, will visit Kyiv on the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February.
