California Prepares for Possible Iranian Drone Threat Amid Rising Tensions

California officials are on high alert following warnings from the FBI regarding a potential drone attack by Iran targeting the state. Governor Gavin Newsom confirmed that state agencies are collaborating with security forces to ensure public safety.

According to a bulletin from the FBI, there are indications that Iran may plan a surprise drone strike from an unidentified vessel off the U.S. West Coast, specifically aimed at unspecified locations in California. This potential attack is reportedly in response to U.S. military actions against Iran.

The Governor’s Office stated that the California Office of Emergency Services is actively working with local, state, and federal security agencies to protect residents. In light of these developments, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has heightened its readiness and increased patrols around places of worship, cultural institutions, and other critical sites across the county.

During a press conference on March 11, Newsom addressed inquiries about the drone threats, affirming his awareness of the situation. He noted that California has established a State Operations Center since the onset of U.S.-Israeli military operations against Iran, working closely with emergency management officials.

“Drone issues have always been a top priority for us, and we have formed several working groups to address these concerns. However, that is all I can disclose at this time. I have no further details beyond what has already been communicated to our local partners,” Newsom stated.

This warning follows recent U.S. military strikes against Iranian naval vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in the destruction of over ten ships intended for mine-laying operations.

On February 28, Israel conducted an airstrike on Tehran, prompting U.S. President Donald Trump to announce the initiation of a “major combat operation” against Iran, aimed at neutralizing perceived threats from the Iranian regime. Trump accused Iran of funding and training militant groups in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Palestine, asserting that the operation seeks to dismantle Iran’s missile industry and naval capabilities to prevent regional destabilization.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for launching missiles and drones toward Israel, as well as attacking U.S. military bases in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

In response to the escalating military actions, French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council. The European Union has reiterated its commitment to ensuring regional security and stability in the Middle East.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed support for the Iranian people, advocating for the removal of what he termed a “terrorist regime” to ensure safety for all nations affected by Iranian aggression.

On March 1, the IRGC announced the commencement of a “devastating offensive operation in the history of the Islamic Republic” against Israel and U.S. military installations. Trump has urged the Iranian regime to abandon its plans, threatening a “very strong response” if they proceed.

On March 2, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that the next phase of military operations against Iran would be even more destructive.

On March 6, Trump emphasized the need for a complete change in Iran’s leadership, suggesting he has several candidates in mind for a “good leader” to replace the current regime.

California is bracing for a potential drone threat from Iran, as state officials respond to FBI warnings. Governor Gavin Newsom has confirmed that security measures are being heightened across the state amid escalating military actions involving the U.S. and Iran.
