The commercial court of the Donetsk region declared Rinat Akhmetov’s DTEK Skhidenergo LLC, which operated three power plants in the east of Ukraine, bankrupt.
This is reported by Ligazakon with reference to the data in the court register. DTEK Shchydenergo was engaged in the production and sale of electric and thermal energy.
The property was bought by Metinvest Akhmetov. One of the largest metallurgical plants was liquidated in Ukraine
The main activity was carried out on:
- Zuyivska TPP (since March 2017, the company lost control over this asset due to military operations in the territory not controlled by Ukraine),
- Luhansk TPP (since February 2022, production activity has been suspended due to the occupation of Shchastya),
- Kurakhivskaya TPP (not working since 2023).
It was previously reported that in November 2021, the energy regulator fined DTEK Shchydenergo Rinat Akhmetov as much as possible due to violations on the energy market.
According to the inspection carried out by the regulator, DTEK Skhidenergo did not fulfill its obligations to have the necessary fuel reserves to ensure the safety of electricity supply in individual months during the period under inspection, by separate units.
It was about the Luhansk and Kurakhivsk TPPs, where the accumulation of guaranteed coal reserves was not ensured.
The regulator also accused DTEK Skhydenergo of violating the requirements of the Market Rules regarding the obligation to submit applications for the sale of electric energy to the market “a day in advance” (RDN). It is necessary to declare at least 10% of the total supply of electricity by all units of supply of the resource in each calculation period of the supply day.
The regulator noted that DTEK Shchydenergo did not comply with the licensee’s obligation to purchase and sell electricity under bilateral contracts and organized segments of the electricity market.
As a result, the regulator imposed maximum fines on the company. The fines amounted to UAH 1.7 million and UAH 34,000, respectively.
