“We can really confirm that there was a GPS muffling, but the aircraft landed in Bulgaria safely. We received information from the Bulgarian authorities that they suspect that it was due to the outright intervention of Russia,” the Podesta said.
She added that they know in the European Union “and in some ways used to threats and intimidations, which are a regular element of hostile behavior of Russia.”
“Of course, this will only increase our unwavering devotion to the increase of defense capabilities and support of Ukraine. This incident actually emphasizes the urgency of the mission, which the President (von Der Lyen) is carrying out these days in the frontier Member States,” the European Commission spokesman said.
She added that in this way Ursula von der Lien “saw her own eyes daily challenges of threats from Russia and her assistants.”
Prehistory:
- The aircraft with the President of the European Commission Ursula von Der Lyen was forced to land at the airport of the Bulgarian city Plovdiv, using paper cards, due to failures in GPS.
- Von Der Lyen flew to Plovdiv from Warsaw to meet with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Rosen Zhelazkov and to visit the ammunition factory.
