“On July 22, the Parliament with the hands of the odious people’s deputies destroyed the independence of NABU and SAP. Deputies did it without media cameras, without a direct broadcast on a parliamentary TV channel, without public explanations and discussions. The Ukrainians learned about it from telegrams, not from parliamentary air.”, – WRITE: www.pravda.com.ua
Next week, deputies promise to remedy the situation. But again – behind the closed doors. Neither society nor international partners will be able to see who really wants to restore the independence of anti -corruption bodies and who just plays a role. In the country that has built trust institutions for years, to make everything closed again – political suicide.
We have already passed the stages when the Verkhovna Rada was a theater for the contracts, when the decisions were made silently and the arguments were buried under the “security regime”.

Instead, only on social networks saw Yulia Tymoshenko from the podium. “Light Day in the Ukrainian Parliament” and Verseis nonsense about “release from external management”. The odious Buzhansky, who rejoices, as a teenager, that his amendments have destroyed the independence of NABU and SAP. This state of affairs is beneficial to those who play public policy under the old rules.
Such a quick, opaque decision brought thousands of citizens on the Ukrainian cities. People in peaceful protest prove that the source of power is the people. Now is the time to make the parliament open – to restore live broadcasts on the Council channel. Some of the people’s deputies are supported by such an initiative.
If the council really intends to restore anti -corruption infrastructure, people have to see it live. Because parliament is not a hopper. This is a place for public policy. And today is the main test for the survival of democracy.
The danger to parliament is not that the rocket will fly. The danger is that the closed door may break the spine of public trust. And without it – the country will not withstand.
The next meeting of the Verkhovna Rada should be open. This is not a request. This is a time requirement.
