Britain should hand over all frozen Russian assets to Ukraine to send a clear signal to Moscow: the aggressor must and will pay. This is stated in a letter from members of the British Parliament published by The Times UNN.

Previous loans and emergency financing are not enough. Only using the assets themselves ensures that Russia will pay for its crimes,

Details

According to the deputies, the government must decide how to legally transfer to Ukraine 300 billion dollars of frozen reserves of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

They believe handing over at least £25.5 billion held in UK accounts will send a “clear signal” of strategic resolve and help prevent future conflicts.

The letter was signed by more than ten British MPs, as well as eight high-ranking parliamentarians from allied countries: Germany, Poland, the Baltic states and Finland.

It is noted that Great Britain has the most frozen Russian reserves outside the EU.

We will remind

Last December, at a meeting of EU leaders, a conflict arose between Scholz and Duda regarding the confiscation of 260 billion euros of frozen assets of the Russian Federation. Germany opposes it because of risks to financial markets, while Poland supports the idea.
