British Intelligence: Russian troops conduct relocation to increase pressure on priority directions for them

Russian military activity has decreased in Kharkiv and Sumy regions, as the Russian Federation relocated parts of its forces to other sections of the front line, which is most likely part of an attempt to increase pressure on priority directions, in particular in Donetsk region, the UK intelligence states.

“According to open sources, in the last two days, Ukrainian troops have successfully conducted counterattack west of Kupyansk, an important logistics unit in Kharkiv region. Russia has had significant success in the attempt of Kupyansk’s environment during the last month, ”the message reads.

In the north of Donetsk region, in the last ten days, Russian troops have advanced through the Serebryansky forest and are fighting there, they say in intelligence. According to the report, Russian troops have fixed positions along the neighboring river Siverskyi Donets, which serves as a natural defensive barrier.

Intelligence noted that the Russian forces almost certainly use the forest as a partial cover from drones, probably having the ultimate goal of Yampil, about 10 kilometers west of their current position.

If Yampil is captured, he will probably serve as a potential starting point for the assault of the city of Lyman, a key railway logistics unit 9 kilometers northwest of Yampol, noted in UK intelligence.

“Pokrovsk is likely to remain a priority area of actions of Russia and the center of the largest proportion of Russian attacks compared to the rest of the front line. Russian troops use various assault methods, including storms of motorcyclists and intelligence attacks in small groups, trying to penetrate Ukrainian positions, ”the message reads.

The Pokrovsky direction in the Donetsk region remains one of the hottest areas of the front. Over the last year, the largest number of combat clashes is mainly recorded there.

On August 31, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, after the report of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Sirsky, stated that the Russian army concentrates the greatest efforts in the Pokrovsky direction and, “accordingly, the greatest losses.”

According to him, in general, in the front only eight months of this year, Moscow lost more than 290 thousand of its soldiers killed and seriously wounded.

“They suffered the greatest losses in Donetsk, without realizing any of their strategic tasks. Some stabilization measures are ongoing in some areas of the front, ”Zelensky added.

According to analysts of the American Institute for War Study (ISW), the head of the General Staff of Russia Valery Gerasimov, as well as the Russian Minister of Defense of Russia Andriy Belousov made exaggerated statements about the promotion of the Russian army.

ISW believes that the Kremlin is probably trying to influence the policy of the West against Ukraine, creating a false impression that Russia’s attacks and victory are inevitable.
