The Telegraph has learned that the United Kingdom is secretly preparing for a direct military attack by Russia – an updated secret “Defense Plan of the Motherland” will determine the strategy on the first days after a blow to the territory of Britain by a hostile foreign country.

Details: Officials have been instructed to update 20-year plans for emergencies that will transfer the country to a state of readiness for war after threats of attack by the Kremlin.

The secret dossier will set out how the government will respond to war declaration, including bunkers to protect the government and the royal family, broadcast public services and accumulate resources.

Ministers are afraid that the United Kingdom will not only concede to Russia and its allies on the battlefield, but will also be unprepared and poorly protected inside the country.

The Kremlin has repeatedly threatened Britain with a direct attack for its support of Ukraine.

Experts have warned that the country is vulnerable to attack critical national infrastructure, including gas terminals, submarine cables, nuclear power plants and transport units.

The updated secret “Defense Plan of the Motherland” will include scenarios that Britain strikes with ordinary missiles, nuclear warheads or cyberrataks, which were limited by the threat when the latter significant update of the plan was done by 2005.

The plan developed by the Cabinet of Ministers Department will include instructions for the Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers for Government Management in wartime and when they need to look for shelter in the Downing Street bunker or outside London.

Military strategies for rail and road networks, courts, postal system and telephone lines are expected to be considered. It is unlikely that this document will be published in the coming decades, if it is published at all.

The Cabinet of Ministers has already developed a scenario behind which the enemy state simultaneously launches missiles and cyberattacks on national infrastructure.

Risk assessment, published in January, showed that a successful attack “can lead to the death of civilians and members of emergency services”, cause serious economic harm and disruption of vital services.

Representatives of defense agencies also called on the United Kingdom to develop their own version of the Israeli Iron Dome to protect against rocket attacks.

Last month, a representative of the Royal Air Force reported that if the first night of the war in Ukraine took place in the United Kingdom, Russian missiles would break through British defense and destroyed infrastructure.

British officials are particularly concerned about gas terminals and five active nuclear power plants that, according to government, can produce radioactive materials across the country and have “significant long -term long -term consequences for safety, health, environmental and economy” in the event of impact.

The new British plan was developed on the model of the Book of War – a secret dossier of the Cold War with instructions for response to the government to a nuclear strike, which was subsequently published in the National Archives.

The War Book contained the evacuation plans of the Prime Minister and key government members who, in the case of Boming Lndon, should be transported to the Cotswold’s bunker. Queen Elizabeth II would have to escape to the royal yacht.

Planning takes place against the backdrop of ministers’ preparation for a strategic defense inspection, which will consider the state of the Armed Forces.

The Ministry of Defense has stated that the review will include “internal security enhancements” that may provide for the development of a more powerful missile defense system. The willingness of the Armed Forces for the war will also be considered after decades of reducing the number of troops.

Prehistory:

  • On February 25, Prime Minister of Britain has announced that from 2027 Britain’s financing for international aid will be reduced from 0.5 to 0.3% of gross national income to fund the increase in defense costs.
  • Instead, this should allow the country to reach 2.5% of GDP of defense costs.
