The head of the Ministry of Defense of Britain, who on Friday, August 15, participated in the event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Allies over Japan in World War II, stated that the “Coalition of Decide” is ready to speak “from the first day” of ceasefire to help secure peace in Ukraine.
“In the event of a ceasefire, we are ready to send British soldiers to Ukraine. They are ready to go, they are ready to act from the first day,” he assured.
Gili noted that the question of what British troops will do in Ukraine in the event of a renewal of the Russian attack are “hypothetical”, but the principle is that “any British troops have the right to defend themselves in the event of an attack.”
“After all, the strongest restraining factor for Russia, which can invade Ukraine again or regroup and restore aggression, is the power of Ukraine,” Gili said.
In addition, he noted that “more than 200 military planners from 30 countries have been working on a detailed ceasefire plan in recent months.”
He shared that multinational forces will support the “safety of Ukraine’s airs and maritime space”, but the main focus will be on the restoration of “Ukrainian forces for themselves”.
