Direct speech: “Britain has already identified key players in Iran’s oil, energy, nuclear and financial systems. Further action will target the financial, energy, transport, software and other key sectors contributing to the escalation of Iran’s nuclear programme, and we will continue to work with the EU and other partners to examine what additional measures may be necessary in response to developments.”
Details: Cooper said Iran’s claims that the internal protests were caused by foreign influence and incitement are “lies and propaganda.”
“We and other governments around the world are determined not to play into the hands of the regime and not allow our words or actions to be distorted to support their lies and propaganda. The world is watching Iran, and Great Britain will continue to stand up to the lies of the regime, expose its repression and take the necessary measures to protect the interests of Great Britain,” the country’s foreign minister concluded.
Iran’s ambassadors were also summoned by Spain, Finland, Belgium and the Czech Republic due to Tehran’s harsh repression against the demonstrators.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the EU plans to quickly propose new sanctions in connection with the repression of protesters in Iran.
And American President Donald Trump supported the Iranian population in the protests and declared that “help is on the way.”
