Britain has accused the Russian Federation of a break of 10,000 camcorders for Western aid tracking Ukraine – Guardian

Intelligence services of the United Kingdom and its allies have accused the GRU unit known as APT 28 or Fancy Bear, in an attempt to access CCTV cameras to track Western aid that comes to Ukraine and interfere with supply. About it writes the British edition of The Guardian.

This is stated in the report prepared by the National Cybersecurity Center of Great Britain with the participation of agencies from the US and European countries, reports The Guardian. According to them, Russian hackers from APT 28 since 2022 have a cybercamps against state and private organizations in NATO member states.

The document states that hackers for tracking supply to Ukraine have access to private CCTV cameras and road cameras. There are 10,000 cameras near border crossings, military facilities and railway stations. 80% of broken cameras operate in Ukraine, 10% in Romania, 4% in Poland, 2.8% in Hungary and 1.7% in Slovakia. The location of other cameras is not reported.

The hackers also took other actions aimed at gathering confidential information on the supply of Western aid to Kiev, including train schedules and invoices. Among other things, according to the authors of the report, they sent phishing letters with pornography and counterfeit documents, as well as stole passwords for access to systems.

The National Cybersecurity Center of Great Britain has called on private companies involved in the supply of assistance to Ukraine, to “take urgent protection measures”.

The APT 28 or Fancy Bear Hacker Group is also known as the 85th Main Center for Special GRU Services or GRU Services 26165.

Fancy Bear hackers were accused of breaking the servers of the National Democratic Party and e-mail of the former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, cyberattacks on the Bundestag and the Social Democratic Party of Germany, the organization from chemical weapons, as well as other Western institutions.

In 2020, the European Union imposed sanctions against the Head of GRU Igor Kostyukov and his subordinates from the 85th Main Center of Special GRU Services.
