Details: The event took place in the evening of November 24.
The men used the services of traders who promised to help them cross the border by land, but after paying for the “service” they were informed that they would still have to go into the water. Shippers, traditionally disregarding the lives of their customers, directed them to the Tisza when it got dark, telling them that the water was knee-deep there, the river itself was not wide, and therefore they would easily cross it and not even have time to freeze, the DPSU notes.
No flotation devices or life jackets were offered to the men. Taking off their shoes and slightly rolling up their pants, the “divers” went into an unknown body of water. In just a few minutes, all three were washed away by a powerful current and carried away in an unknown direction.
The men were saved only by the fact that there was a washed-out tree in the water, which they were able to grab onto and get out onto the shoal in the middle of the river. Then they called the rescuers and reported that they needed help.
Military personnel of the “Vylok” and “Dyakov” border service departments of the Mukachevo border detachment were involved in the search for offenders. “Islanders” were discovered with the help of a drone.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the border guards of the “Vylok” department, the employees of the branch of the state fire and rescue station of the village of Vylok and the mountain search and rescue department of the city of Irshava, the victims were rescued and pulled to the shore.
All three were taken to the border unit, where servicemen gave them hot tea and gave them the opportunity to warm up, dry their clothes and shoes.
For an attempt to violate the state border, the men were issued administrative offense protocols.
Literally DPSU: “We inform you that the water level in the Tisza River, which runs along the border with Hungary and Romania, has risen significantly at the moment. The water temperature is very low, which causes cramps in the muscles of those who try to dive into the river. Under such conditions, the human body becomes uncontrollable, which can lead to death. We once again warn against trying to cross the Tisza.”
