In particular, the Kremlin wants “guarantees against the further expansion of NATO to the east” and promises of Ukraine’s neutral status if it joins the EU.
In addition, the Russian Federation is dissatisfied with the “lack of restrictions” on the number of troops and types of weapons for Ukraine, the “lack of clear guarantees” regarding the status of the Russian language in Ukraine and the lifting of Western sanctions and the fate of Russian assets frozen in the West.
The interlocutor added that in Russia they consider the current document “a fairly typical Ukrainian plan”, but “they will study it with a cold head”.
We will remind, on December 24, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi revealed the content of the “peace plan” for the first time of 20 points agreed with the USA.
Zelenskyi also emphasized that Ukraine does not go on demand on the refusal of membership in NATO, which was in the 28-point plan.
In addition, he revealed that the draft agreement does not provide for the lifting of sanctions against the Russian Federation by the United States, but Washington does intends to gradually do so after the end of the war.
