Source: “European Truth” with reference to Bloomberg Details: The agency cited four European officials who expressed concern about the announcement of a summit between Trump and Putin in Budapest. According to them, Putin intervened just at the moment when the situation in relations with Trump began to develop in favor of Ukraine. Interlocutors of the agency emphasized that the Russian leader is stalling and trying to disrupt Trump’s scheduled Friday talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. Two of the agency’s sources said EU leaders should take a firm stance on Russia and find ways to counter Putin’s influence on Trump at the summit. One of them suggested that Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who has been a key figure in the White House talks since Trump’s August summit with Putin in Alaska, should somehow attend the meeting in Hungary. At this stage, it is unclear whether Trump will invite Zelensky to join the talks in Budapest as part of the trilateral summit. One senior EU official expressed hope that Trump will remember that after the summit in Alaska, Putin did the opposite of what the American president had hoped for. It will be recalled that on October 16, Trump spoke with the ruler of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin for the first time in almost two months, after which he announced that they were planning a meeting in Budapest – which would be Putin’s first appearance in the capital of an EU member state during the years of full-scale war and would require him to fly over the territory of other member states. After the conversation, Trump said that Putin “didn’t like” the idea of providing Tomahawk to Ukraine, and expressed the opinion that now is “not an ideal time” for secondary sanctions that would reduce Russia’s income from the sale of energy resources.”, — write: www.pravda.com.ua
