US President Joe Biden confirmed that an agreement was reached between Hamas terrorists and Israel on a ceasefire and the release of hostages.

Details: According to the American president, the agreement between Israel and Hamas “will allow the fighting in Gaza to stop, increase the amount of much-needed humanitarian aid to the Palestinian civilian population and reunite the hostages with their families after more than 15 months of imprisonment.”
“This is the result not only of the extraordinary pressure exerted on Hamas and the change in the regional balance after the cease-fire in Lebanon and the weakening of Iran, but also of persistent and painstaking American diplomacy,” he added.
At the same time, Biden urged not to forget the victims of the attack by Hamas terrorists in October 2023 and “the many innocent people killed in the war that began after that.”
Earlier, the American media, citing sources, reported that Israel and Hamas agreed on the cessation of hostilities in Gaza and the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners.
Even before the agreement was officially confirmed, US President-elect Donald Trump commented on it, later saying that without his victory in November 2024, it would have been impossible.
At the same time, the office of the Prime Minister of Israel said that the negotiators are still agreeing on individual points of the agreement, but they hope to complete this process in the coming hours.
The European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Šuica, welcomed the achievement of a ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages between Israel and Hamas.
