US President Joe Biden spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about ongoing talks in Doha on a ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages.

This is stated in the message of the White House, reports UNN.

Details

The two leaders discussed ongoing negotiations in Doha on a ceasefire and hostage release agreement based on the May 27, 2024 agreements outlined by the President last year and unanimously endorsed by the UN Security Council

Joe Biden noted the fundamentally changed regional circumstances after the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, the fall of the Assad regime in Syria and the weakening of Iran’s power in the region.

So he stressed the immediate need for a ceasefire in Gaza and the return of the hostages, along with an increase in humanitarian aid made possible by the ceasefire agreement.

Netanyahu thanked President Biden for his long-standing support for Israel and the significant contribution of the United States to strengthening the country’s security.

We will remind

An Israeli delegation arrived in Doha for talks with Hamas on the release of hostages and a ceasefire. The main disagreements concern control of the Philadelphia Corridor and the presence of troops in Gaza.
