This decision actually eliminates the special regime for refugees from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, who have relatives in Berlin, which still allowed them to enter the country privately.
At the same time, the refugees had to undertake to cover the costs of health insurance and care for relatives who came to Germany.
The program, introduced by the Social Democrats and Green Coalition, has made more than 4,000 people entering Berlin since 2018.
Migration restriction has become one of the leading topics of the latest elections in Germany and the promise of the Conservative Government of Friedrich Mertz.
Earlier, it became known that the German government intends to introduce more stringent rules for obtaining social assistance to the unemployed, which are received in particular by refugees from Ukraine.
