Belgium expects to put F16 in Ukraine in 2026 – Prime Minister

Belgium expects to put F-16 fighter jets for battle in Ukraine in 2026, said Belgium Prime Minister Bart de Vever before meeting with other EU leaders in Brussels.

Where the Vever said that the promised delivery of aircraft was postponed because Belgium is expecting new F35 to be supplied to replace F16, Reuters reports.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Brussels met Bart de Vever. As he wrote in telegrams, he thanked the government and all the Belgians for the assistance provided, in particular for the transfer of F-16 aircraft.

“He informed about the preparation of the European plan to approach a just peace and invited the Prime Minister to take part in work on it. Particular attention was paid to defense needs during negotiations, ”Zelensky wrote.

In Brussels, on March 6, there is a special Summit of the EU, which plans to discuss continuation of support for Ukraine and European defense. Among other things, EU leaders will discuss the European contribution to the security guarantees necessary to ensure a long peace in Ukraine.

The project of the summit at the disposal of Radio Liberty, among other things, states that the peace agreement should be accompanied by reliable security guarantees for Ukraine, and negotiations should be both with the participation of Ukraine and the EU.
