Details: A US official said the US president’s administration was surprised that protesters chanted Pahlavi’s name during many of the demonstrations.

“Pahlavi is gaining popularity. They are chanting his name at demonstrations in many cities, and it seems to be happening organically,” he said.
So he noted that Witkoff secretly met with Pahlavi over the weekend to discuss the protests raging in Iran.
It was the first high-level meeting between the Iranian opposition and the Trump administration since the protests began. As noted, Pahlavi is trying to position himself as a “transitional” leader in case the regime falls.
Pahlavi, the son of the Shah who was overthrown in the 1979 Islamic Revolution, leads an opposition faction in exile in the United States.
It should be noted that Trump supported the Iranian population in the protests and declared that “help is on the way.”
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the EU plans to quickly propose new sanctions in connection with the repression of protesters in Iran.
And the UK has announced “full and additional sanctions” against Iran amid mass protests that have left hundreds dead and arrested.
