The O.O. Shalimov National Scientific Center of Surgery and Transplantology reports this on Facebook, transmits UNN.
A military patient with the consequences of a mine-explosive injury came to our Center because of constant aching pain in the area of the left kidney. The examination showed fragmental damage to the perirenal space of the left kidney — a fragment measuring 10×10 mm remained in the body after previous treatment in another medical institution
The Center for Transplantology reported that the fragment near the patient’s kidney had a difficult location near the main vessels, which complicated the surgical intervention.
Specialists of the center held a consultation and determined the optimal tactics of the operation. Thanks to the laparoscopic technique and the use of magnetic extractors, the fragment was successfully removed through three small punctures.
Already on the third day after the operation, the patient was discharged in a stable condition. The center added that pain and discomfort are a thing of the past, and doctors are still ready to help even in the most difficult cases.
