Since the beginning of the day, 48 combat clashes took place at the front. Most of the attacks by the Russian troops were recorded in the Pokrovsky direction, according to the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on January 15, as of 4:00 p.m.

“In the Pokrovsky direction, the Russian invaders made 17 attempts to dislodge our defenders from their occupied positions in the areas of Baranivka, Elizavetivka, Lysivka, Zelene, Zvirove, Uspenivka, Andriivka and Dachne settlements. The defense forces restrained the onslaught and repelled nine enemy attacks, eight clashes are still ongoing,” the post states.

According to the headquarters, in the Lyman direction, the Russian army carried out 12 attacks on the positions of the Armed Forces near the settlements of Kopanky, Novosergiivka, Tverdokhlibove, Makiivka, Kolodyazi, Terna, and Hryhorivka.

“Since the beginning of the day, 11 skirmishes have taken place in the Kursk direction, eight of which are still ongoing. In addition, the enemy carried out seven airstrikes, dropping 12 guided bombs,” the military said.

Russian troops also advanced in the Kharkiv, Kupyan, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, Novopavlovsk, and Dnieper directions.

According to the observations of the Institute for the Study of War on January 13, Russian troops are cutting roads to the east and west of Pokrovsk in an attempt to surround the city.

The DeepState project and the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the Russian army in the first days of 2025 is actively capturing new territories to the south, southeast and east of Pokrovsk.

Viktor Tregubov, the spokesman for the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops, reported that Russian troops are trying to bypass the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region in order to break logistical chains and take the city under operational encirclement.
