Around 03:30 a fire broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel, one of the largest ski resorts in Turkey, Kartalkaya (a ski resort in northwestern Turkey. Located in the province of Bolu in the Keroglu Mountains – ed.), at an altitude of 2,200 meters.
As a result of the incident, at least 10 people died.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that at least 32 people were injured.
Skiing instructor Nejmi Kepcetutan, who was in the hotel at the time of the fire, spoke live on Turkish TV about the first moments of the disaster.
Kepchetutan stated that the flames were spreading to the outer facade and there was a great atmosphere of panic.
Inside there were 150 employees and 150 visitors, although there was no clear information about this. According to the mass administration, about 237 guests lived in the hotel.

Television footage showed several fire engines surrounding the charred hotel at the foot of the ski slopes, with white sheets tied together and hanging from one top-floor window.
