Not so long ago, he visited this unique military unit, headed by the legendary Kombrig Igor Otlensky (now he went to promotion). Visiting domestic and foreign guests here is a regular phenomenon. The Charter Brigade, together with some other military units, is a business card of the modern Ukrainian army. He was surprised when he saw the Norwegian flag in the headquarters. For some reason, he ordered that the symbol of the brigade was like a Viking fleece. But it turned out that the reason in the other – recently the military unit was visited by one of the leaders of the Norwegian Army.

The interest of foreigners in this team is clear. Despite the established idea, this military unit does not always work according to NATO standards. Some of its standards are at the highest level. Although the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP – Military Decision Making Process) and how it is used in practice, we have heard it repeatedly. However, theory is a theory, and practice always goes on. If NATO Generals mostly studied the war on books, the Ukrainian military takes their lessons every day in battles with the enemy. Charter executives are half a jokingly said that some of the brigade servicemen will cost millions of dollars after the war. And so with them and the brigade in general after the end of the war will be fine – you will not be left without work.

It is fair to note that there are no generals in the Charter – there are only three colonels (although according to certain rules there should be 11). In general, there are not many personnel (those who have profile military education) in the Charter. But we met a former employee of the Monetary Department of the National Bank there – he is engaged in planning military operations.

From what we saw, this brigade is a good example of the introduction of innovations in the Ukrainian defense forces. No Soviet Army – such a slogan is located on the “advanced” website of the brigade. The important purpose of the changes here is to do everything possible to maintain the life and health of the personnel. Here they emphasize the values ​​of everyone who stood in the ranks of the brigade. That is why the Charter is a proper security that numerous patrons help with.

The success of the brigade, according to its leaders, is based on three whales: professional HR activity, careful planning and continuous training. Agree, these priorities are inherent in many successful companies around the world. The only difference is that if businesses risk their shareholders’ wealth, then military units are the lives of their fighters. Therefore, working with staff, planning and studying military personnel is much more careful.

The site also states that the main purpose of the team’s activity is the victory of Ukraine in the war. Compared to business practitioners, a dreamy victory is a brigade’s vision.

Which of the practices of the Charter, in my opinion, should business be used?

Any action here is preceded by great analytical work. There are many charts and graphs on numerous monitors in the headquarters (headquarters) of the Charter. The data is updated in real time. On the basis of the hour, daily, weekly and monthly analytics, weighted decisions are made. I would like to have a Dashboard in the bank that would reduce all the performance of Oschad and show the result in real time! And it is desirable in terms of a separate business line, specific products and offices. Such a visual operational analytics lacks many Ukrainian companies.

The Charter Brigade is known for constantly breaking old rules that no longer meet the requirements of time or are completely illogical. The commanders of the brigade say that they are constantly changing the organizational structure. All the time there are technical innovations that help to be more effective in combat. The brigade already uses elements of artificial intelligence, and soon they will become much more.

Before surgery, the fighters do not work out, but rehearsal as in the theater. Not overall improvement of skills, but coordinated actions in a particular situation is being worked out. The ability to get rid of the outdated and introduce new-the important competence of any successful business is important.

Many speak in the brigade about corporate culture. According to the plans of representatives of the Charter, it should be significantly different from the strict hierarchy of military units of the Soviet times. One of the key values ​​is respect for servicemen. I literally “clung” to one of the heads of the planning unit (what from the NBU), who looks just over 20 years, with questioning: is the highest leadership of the brigade of more respectful age? I was assured – yes. It is this approach to the slogan “Everyone deserves to be heard” helps to avoid subjective assessments and make the best solutions. Focusing on the essence of the proposal, not on the personal one who offered it – this feature is often lacking in Ukrainian companies. The rule of the old days “I am the boss – you are a fool” where it is still the main one in the decision -making process. But not in the Charter.

After my visit to the brigade, I was given confidence that there is a recipe for obtaining a decent peace for Ukraine: it is, in addition to the continuation of international support of Ukraine, the “charging” of our country’s defense forces. I am glad that this is already happening: it is known that the brigade will become the basis of the Corps of the National Guard “Khartia”, Kombrig Zalaen has already become the commander of this corps, which will extend modern principles and standards of army management.

I believe that responsible businesses, including banks that provide financial assistance to the Khartiya Brigade, make the best possible investment – that our peaceful future comes as soon as possible. Therefore, I urge everyone who is indifferent to support this and other units of the Ukrainian army.
