Details: As the publication writes, a man deliberately drove at high speed into a crowd of people on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, killing at least 15 people and injuring dozens of others.
The attacker was 42-year-old Shamsud-Deen Jabbar, a US citizen from Texas and a US Army veteran.
The publication reports that the black flag of the ISIS terrorist organization flew from the rear bumper of the truck.
In his televised speech, US President Joe Biden said that the FBI had determined that a few hours before the attack, Jabbar “posted videos on social media suggesting he was inspired by ISIS and expressed a desire to kill”.
Literally: “FBI Special Agent Alethea Duncan said at a press conference that investigators “Jabbar is not believed to have been solely responsible” for the attack, and the FBI believes he may have been assisted. Duncan said the FBI is looking into it “a number of suspects” and “doesn’t want to rule anything out” at this stage of the investigation. The FBI is also working to determine his potential ties to terrorist organizations”.
Details: New Orleans Police Superintendent Ann Kirkpatrick said the attacker “tried to move as many people as possible”.
It is reported that when Jabbar got out of the car with an assault rifle, he opened fire on the police and was shot dead by the police on the spot. Two policemen received gunshot wounds.
Literally: “A weapon and two potential improvised explosive devices were found in the car. According to sources at the scene, the rifle was fitted “muffler”. Two sources familiar with the investigation told CBS News that the man was wearing a bulletproof vest.
FBI, Homeland Security and bomb squad investigators responded to the scene at an Airbnb home in the St. Roche neighborhood of New Orleans, where CBS News reported the suspect was staying while in New Orleans. That building caught fire on Wednesday and the fire is under investigation”.
