“The air target (not high-speed) on the border of Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions, crossed the state border from the territory of Belarus, heading south,” the message read. An air alert was announced in a number of regions (Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv), and residents of these regions were urged to take shelter.
A few minutes later, the military announced that the threat had been defeated, but warned about an attack drone in the eastern part of the Kyiv region, with a southwesterly course.
The Air Force did not specify which target from Belarus it was about. According to the information of the “Belarusian Gayun” project, this is a Yak-130 combat training aircraft of the Belarusian Air Force.
The Belarusian authorities did not comment on the situation.
