The administration informed the relevant authorities about the case and started an investigation.
“Yesterday, new facts of suspicious drone flights over the Eurenco production facility were recorded,” the Bergerac prosecutor’s office reported.
The prefecture says that immediately after the administration’s appeal, the police began searching for the pilot of the UAV, but the efforts ended in failure.
Investigations are being conducted on the facts of deliberate piloting of the device in a no-fly zone.
General Marc Le Bui, commander of air defense and air operations in the French Armed Forces, said that from the available information it can be assumed that it was a standard commercial drone like the popular DJI drones.
The general added that such incidents and investigations are no longer rare.
Eurenco is a European leader in the production of gunpowder and explosives. The company has production facilities in two locations in France – Bergerac and Sorgues, as well as in Sweden and Belgium. The powders produced in the factories are used in many French and European shells, rockets, torpedoes and medium caliber ammunition.
France is also conducting an investigation into the tracking of an unknown UAV behind a column of Leclerc tanks.
Recently, a whole series of incidents involving the presence of unknown drones over strategic objects took place in Belgium, which also disrupted the work of airports.
