Details: “El Al” is suspending its activities on the route “Tel Aviv – Moscow” from next week “against the events in the Russian airspace”.
Officials explain the decision by the crash of the Azerbaijani passenger plane, which was probably caused by the Russian air defense system.
The airline added that next week they will conduct a new assessment of the situation and make a further decision regarding the resumption of flights on the route.
What preceded:
- On Wednesday, the Embraer plane of the Azerbaijan Arilines airline company, which was on its way from Baku to Grozny, crashed near Aktau (the administrative center of the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan). According to Azerbaijan Airlines, there were 67 people on board, including five crew members. Of them, 42 are citizens of Azerbaijan, 16 – from Russia, 6 – from Kazakhstan, 3 – from Kyrgyzstan.
- “KazAeroNavigatsiya” company believes that the accident occurred in connection with a collision with a bird and violation of steering control. Also, the Russian public does not rule out that the plane could have changed its course due to the threat of a drone attack on Chechnya. According to preliminary data, Grozny was attacked by several UAVs, as a result of which the “Carpet” plan was announced at the city’s airport.
- As a result of the accident of the “Azerbaijan Airlines” plane in Aktau, Kazakhstan, which was on its way from Baku to Grozny, 38 people died, said the Vice Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and the head of the state commission for the investigation of the causes of the plane wreck, Kanat Bozumbayev.
- The Center for Combating Disinformation stated that the Azerbaijan Airlines plane that crashed in Kazakhstan was shot down by a Russian anti-aircraft missile system.
- According to Euronews sources, the cause of the wreck of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane on December 25, which was flying from Baku to Grozny, was a Russian surface-to-air missile that exploded nearby.
