In Kyiv On October 24, an exhibition dedicated to Ukrainian poetic cinema will open. The exhibition “In the Grand Sun Dance, in the Cosmic Clap of Torture” will feature materials from the films of Serhiy Paradzhanov, Yuriy Ilyenko, Leonid Osyka and other cult directors.

About this informs Dovzhenko Center.

The exhibition will be held as part of the 6th Kyiv Biennale. Fragments from films, movie posters and photos from filming will be shown during the exposition. It will be complemented by the musical accompaniment of Maryana Klochko.

“The exhibition in the form of dance essays-studies offers a new look at the current – not as a frozen aesthetic tradition, but as a living, sensual practice that opens up space for emotional and bodily emancipation,” the Dovzhenko Center noted.

Alyona Penziy, Oleksandr Telyuk, and Stanislav Bytyutky became curators of the project. It will be possible to visit the exhibition at the Dovzhenko-Center Film Museum from October 24 to December 28.

During “In the grand sun dance, in the cosmic crackle of torture” the works of the artistic movement of the 60s will be shown: Roman Balayan, Leonid Osyka, Serhii Parajanov, Oleg Biima, Yuriy Bondarenko, Anatoly Devyanin, Viktor Zhilk, Viktor Ivanov, Boris Ivchenko, Viktor Ivchenko, Yuriy Ilyenko, Yuri Ilyin-Adayev, Vadym Kalutsky, Oleksandr Kybalnyk, V’yacheslav Kryshtofovych, Tamara Lyashchuk, Oleksandr Melnyk, Oleksiy Moroz, Rollan Sergienko, Volodymyr Saveliev, Mykhailo Sachenko.

In addition, a specially created radio show “Impossible Intermezzo” specially created by Natalia Kolomiets and the Radio Kultura team will take place as part of the exhibition, and the work of invited artist Maksym Khodak will also be presented.

The Kyiv Biennale is an international forum of contemporary art held every two years in Kyiv. This year’s theme of the biennale was “injustice and modern crimes committed by modern imperialist and colonial regimes”.
