18-year-old anti-war activist Pavel Vladimirov from Voronezh was detained in the Kazakh city of Almaty at the request of the Russian Federation, the Alliance of the post-Soviet Left project reported on November 13. According to him, the detention took place on September 4.

The day before his arrest, Rosfinmonitoring included Vladimirov in the list of “terrorists and extremists”. From the decision of the Almaty court, which sent him under arrest, it follows that Vladimirov is wanted in Russia in the case of preparing to participate in the activities of a terrorist organization. It is not known what exactly became the reason for his persecution.

Yakut activist Aikhal Ammosov (Ihor Ivanov) informed the project about the boy’s detention. He found out about Vladimirov in the Almaty pre-trial detention center, where he himself was placed in the fall of 2023 (he was released on October 8, 2024 and went to Germany). “Pasha made the impression of an idealistic person. He asked me to pass the letter to his girlfriend and the contacts of his friends so that they would know about her fate and not worry. No one even knows that Pasha is in a Kazakh prison,” the activist said.

Vladimirov’s friend Olga said that he was supposed to fly to Tbilisi on September 10 and wrote to her for the last time on September 4.

In the letter that Vladimirov sent through Ammosov to his friends, it is said that he was “captured by the FSB.” “I’m fine, I’ll have to spend one year in a pre-trial detention center and I’ll be released. They will not be extradited to Russia. I have a good and experienced lawyer who will help me,” he wrote.

According to the project, Vladimirov was actively engaged in street activism in Voronezh: he posted anti-war leaflets, painted graffiti and participated in rallies. According to relatives, he considers himself an anarchist.
