“What happens here every night is war crimes. This is done exclusively to terrorize the civilian population. You need support now and you will get it. I believe that we are already the largest partner in the energy sector as well. We provide not only generators or energy storage systems, but sometimes also transport for repair work in the energy sector. Now we are also handing over 33 mobile power plants – combined heat and power plants,” the ambassador said.
According to him, one such mobile power plant can provide heat and electricity to tens of thousands of people.
“So, these 33 installations are able to provide electricity to millions of people in Ukraine. The challenge is to connect them – just like with the generators – but we will work together to do it as soon as possible,” emphasized Thoms.
After the meeting of the G7+ group on energy support for Ukraine on January 23, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal announced that
Germany will provide €60 million in support and additional equipment, which includes 33 cogeneration plants, 15 mobile hybrid generators, 300 photovoltaic plants, 375 storage batteries, 31 boiler plants, 45 units of construction machinery and 10 boilers.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Russia has been striking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Since the beginning of the fall of 2025, Russian forces have intensified their attacks on the Ukrainian energy industry.
After the last massive attacks by the Russian Federation, the energy system of Ukraine is under a state of emergency, the most difficult situation is in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
