Details: On May 22, the fifth meeting of the EU accession for Albania, which will be held in Brussels, is planned.

At the meeting, they plan to start negotiations with Albania under the sections of cluster 3 “Competition and inclusive growth”.
In particular, negotiations will begin under sections 10 (digital transformation and media), 16 (taxation), 17 (economic and monetary policy), 19 (social policy and employment), 20 (entrepreneurship and industrial policy), 25 (science and research), 26 (education and culture) and 29.
Recall:
- Albania applied for admission to the EU in April 2009 and received the status of a candidate country in June 2014. The first Intergovernmental Conference of the EU with Albania, which launched negotiations (simultaneously with Northern Macedonia) took place in July 2022.
- At the previous 4th intergovernmental conference, in April 2025, a negotiating cluster 2 was opened-regarding the domestic market.
- Talks 1 “Fundamentals” and 6 (regarding external relations) began on the two previous ones.
- Albanian Prime Minister Edie Rama said Albania would be able to become an EU member by 2030.
