About a third of combatants on the front from the beginning of the day was in the Pokrovsky direction – the General Staff

There were 89 combat clashes from the beginning of the day, as of 16:00 on May 5, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is reported that about a third of the clashes were in the Pokrovsky direction.

“From the beginning of the day in the Pokrovsky direction, the enemy made 32 attempts to squeeze our defenders from the positions occupied in the areas of Sukha Balka, Stara Nikolaevka, Water Second, Novotoretske, Shevchenko, Behavior, Upenivka, Kotlyarivka, Troitskoye, Kotlyarivka. Defense forces restrain the pressure and have already repelled 21 enemy attacks, ”the message reads.

In addition, according to the General Staff, the fights were in Kharkiv, Kupyansk, Lyman, Kramatorsk, Toretsky, Novopavlovsky, Gulyaypil, Orikhiv and Kursk.

The Pokrovsky direction in the Donetsk region remains one of the hottest areas of the front. Over the last year, the largest number of combat clashes is mainly recorded there. According to the analysts of the DeepState project, in the last week about 42% of all attacks of the enemy have fallen in the Pokrovsky direction.

The Commander -in -Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky stated on April 30 that Russian troops significantly increased the intensity of hostilities, focusing basic efforts in the Pokrovsky direction, despite the statement of readiness for a three -day ceasefire in May.
