A truck driver ran into a mobile checkpoint in Odesa region, two soldiers were killed – police

Two military men aged 34 and 36 died in Odesa Oblast as a result of a road accident, the press service of the Main Department of the National Police of the region reported on October 17.

“The car accident happened today, October 17, around 7 o’clock, on the highway near the village of Sukhy Lyman… It has been previously established that a 63-year-old truck driver ran into two military personnel who were near a mobile checkpoint. Kermanych explained: he did not notice them,” the message reads.

The police added that one victim died on the spot, the second died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.

The driver’s drunkenness check showed that he was sober, the police department said.

Traffic is difficult on the section of the road where the accident occurred. The police say that they are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and solving the issue of entering information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations and detaining the driver in a procedural manner.
