In April 2022, on the instructions of Russian curators, the person involved helped the occupiers to organize an ambush on the troops of one of the territorial defense brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

For this, he gained the trust of the Ukrainian defenders and offered them a house in the village of Spivakivka for rest and temporary shelter. He also promised help in placing personnel in the forestry territory, introducing himself as a forester and assuring that he knows the area well.

In fact, having entered into trust, the traitor gave the coordinates of the location of the military personnel to the occupiers, and contributed to the preparation of an ambush on a military vehicle, in which he directly participated.

On April 17, 2022, a car with personnel was ambushed by the armed forces of the Russian Federation near the village of Spivakivka. Part of the Ukrainian military was killed, two were wounded and captured, others were forced to retreat. During this period, the suspect was with the occupiers.

After the liberation of Izyum, the person involved remained in the city and continued to work in forestry, believing that his cooperation with the enemy remained undetected.

During the investigation, one of the soldiers of the Armed Forces, who was later released from Russian captivity, identified the person involved in the photographs. He explained that after the attack, the occupiers stripped him of his military equipment, and he later recognized his own helmet and armor plate on the suspect, as well as his brother’s equipment.

As part of the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers gradually collected evidence of his criminal activities, established his whereabouts, and in January 2026 arrested the traitor. Information about the possible further cooperation of the person involved with the enemy after the deoccupation of the city is also being checked.

The detainee was informed of the suspicion of treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The court arrested the suspect.

The sanction of the article provides for punishment up to life imprisonment.
