Details: The department reported that as a result of the fall of the wreckage of an enemy UAV near the institution, significant damage to the premises of the institution was recorded. The shock wave knocked out 10 window units and damaged the balcony door. In particular, departments serving the youngest readers were destroyed.

According to the Ministry of Culture, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has destroyed or damaged more than 850 libraries throughout Ukraine. The ministry emphasizes that the attacks on children’s cultural and educational institutions are a purposeful destruction of the Ukrainian humanitarian space.
For reference: The National Children’s Library of Ukraine is the country’s main children’s book collection and a national repository of relevant literature. The institution was founded in 1967.
Currently, the library’s total stock is more than 500,000 copies. In addition to books and magazines, the institution keeps unique collections of gramophone records, CDs, transparencies and motion pictures. The library also acts as a research and information center for the network of specialized children’s libraries of Ukraine.
