Details: The crash aircraft operated 5342 American Airlines and was a Bombardier CRJ700 regional aircraft, which earlier that day departed from Vicit, Kansas. There were 60 passengers and 4 crew members on board.

According to preliminary information, during the event the aircraft collided with the Helicopter US Army Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk, which had a three-person crew and did not transport VIP passengers. The helicopter flew from Fort Belvar, the army base in Virginia.
It is reported that after the collision, the passenger plane fell into the Potatok River near the airport. A large-scale search and rescue operation with the participation of divers continues at the scene.
