“A new pastoral center of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church was opened in the Danish city of Nyköbing-Falster, where the first Divine Liturgy in the Ukrainian language was already held.”, — write: www.ukrinform.ua
The Exarchate said that even 100 years ago, many Ukrainians from Galicia came to the islands of southern Denmark – Lolland / Falster – to work in the fields growing sugar beets. The large number of Ukrainians who worked in Denmark is indicated by the fact that five people became nuns of the local monastery. They and other compatriots prayed in the Church of the Holy Cross (Hellig Kors Kirke), but only by participating in the worship service of the local community.
“Now the local Ukrainians once again felt God’s blessing through sincere prayer, confession, beautiful singing, acquaintance and conversation in the parish hall. Pastor for Ukrainians in Denmark Fr. Vasyl Tikhovich already knew some parishioners, as he married one couple and baptized a child of another family, but this was all in Copenhagen,” the report says.
The Nyköbing-Falster community service will be held once a month, every second Saturday of the month at 1:00 p.m.
The Exarchate added that today the UGCC in Denmark has seven pastoral centers and two priests.
As reported by Ukrinform, earlier the UGCC parish appeared in the city of Odense, located on the Danish island of Funen, as well as a new parish in the Danish city of Aarhus.
