The detainee will be checked for sanity, reported in the police of Odesa region.
On October 15, law enforcement officers received a report from a resident of the Yaskiv community that her 30-year-old son had killed a puppy at home and wanted to do the same to a kitten.
The police established that at first the man tried to strangle the kitten, but the mother got in the way. After that, he kicked the puppy several times, causing the grass to die.
The police took the kitten to a veterinary clinic. There they confirmed that his life is not in danger. The four-legged dog was returned to its owner.
On the fact of cruelty to animals, the investigators started proceedings under Part 3 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The puppy’s body was removed and sent for a forensic veterinary examination.
The man was detained. Currently, the issue of notifying him of suspicion and choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.
The detainee will be checked for sanity. He faces from 5 to 8 years of imprisonment.
