In China, the humanoid service robot XMAN-R1 was officially introduced, which began working at the Shangri-La Traders Hotel at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. The developer of the robot is Keenon Robotics, reports Interesting Engineering.

Shangri-La Traders became the first hotel in the world to offer a shared service model that includes both general and special purpose operations. Robots perform a variety of daily tasks such as greeting guests, cleaning, delivering food and items, handling luggage, and more.

The goal of this project is to demonstrate how artificial intelligence and robotics can improve service efficiency while maintaining a personalized experience for guests.

The basis of the project is the XMAN-R1 humanoid robot. It is located at the hotel reception desk and greets new customers using natural language and artificial intelligence. In addition to XMAN-R1, the hotel also houses other special Keenon robots: W3 manages room delivery, S100 handles luggage transportation, C40 oversees cleaning, and T10 and T3 take care of food delivery to restaurants.

XMAN-R1 is described as “role-oriented, easy to use and above all safe”. The robot is powered by Keenon’s KOM2.0, the world’s first Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model for the service industry, which enables it to seamlessly understand and perform complex tasks.
