Details: The cargo and passenger ferry M/V Trisha Kerstin 3 was on its way from the port city of Zamboanga to Holo Island in Sulu province, the Coast Guard said. There were 332 passengers and 27 crew members on board. Previously, the ship began to sink due to technical problems.

Coast Guard and Navy ships, as well as a surveillance aircraft, a Philippine Air Force Black Hawk helicopter and fishing boats were involved in the search and rescue operation.
The Coast Guard reported that 316 passengers were rescued. At least 15 bodies from the boat were found at the crash site.
