Law enforcement officials say that a dangerous challenge is spreading on the TikTok social network, in which children make homemade firecrackers.
“The consequences of such “experiments” are catastrophic: chemical burns, scars on the face and hands, and in some cases – long-term treatment. Doctors emphasize: such injuries can last a lifetime,” law enforcement officers say.
The police gave the following advice to children:
- Don’t repeat the dangerous actions you see on social media. Life and health are much more important than any views or likes;
- if friends offer to participate in such “challenges”, say a firm “no” and immediately tell adults about it;
- tell teachers or parents if you know someone who is planning to do dangerous “experiments”.
“If you know of cases of spreading dangerous challenges or injury to children, do not stay away – call 102,” the police said.
Earlier, the European Union launched an investigation into the Chinese-owned social network TikTok over allegations that Russia used it to influence the results of the first round of a presidential election in Romania, which was won by a far-right candidate friendly to Moscow.
The European Commission is collecting data to determine whether TikTok has broken EU law.
Also, the law banning the TikTok social network in the US was passed by Congress and signed by President Joe Biden in early 2024. The authors and supporters of the bill believe that the Chinese social network, which has achieved explosive popularity in the American market, can transfer the personal data of Americans to the Chinese government, which threatens the national security of the country.
