The Pentagon said that after Congress approved additional funding for Ukraine, Washington provided Kyiv with 83% of the promised ammunition from the warehouses of the US Defense Ministry and 67% of the promised air defense equipment.

“Since the release of the additional program (the approval by Congress of additional funding for Ukraine in April of this year – ed.), we have used equipment worth almost $ 3.7 billion from the reserves of the Ministry of Defense on 12 PDAs (Presidential Drawdown Authority, the contents are transferred immediately from the reserves of the United States ), which were announced from end of April to mid-October. When we remove equipment that is available from our inventory, we ship it within days or weeks,” Defense Department spokesman Patrick Ryder said at a briefing.

According to him, since then and until mid-October, the United States delivered to Ukraine 83% of critical ammunition, which it undertook to remove from its stockpiles – these are 155-millimeter artillery shells, GMLR, Patriot, NASAMS, missiles.

“We have also delivered 67% of other critical air defense assets, including Stinger and HAWK missiles, and we have delivered 60% of committed firepower, including small diameter bombs and 105mm ammunition. If it’s something that can’t be delivered right away because it needs repair, we repair it as soon as possible and ship it right away,” he added.

The Pentagon notes that in total, after Congress approved additional funding in April, the United States delivered hundreds of thousands of artillery shells, thousands of armored vehicles, thousands of ammunition for HIMARS and anti-tank weapons, dozens of artillery systems, significant air defense equipment, including a Patriot battery, hundreds of interceptors and dozens of other systems.

Patrick Ryder clarified that as of Nov. 12, the Pentagon has $7.1 billion under the PDA program — $4.3 billion for fiscal year 2024, plus $2.8 billion that has been returned, and $2.21 billion remaining under the USAI program (Initiative of assistance security of Ukraine) – for the purchase of weapons from manufacturers.

“We will continue to provide assistance and use the funds we have to provide Ukraine with everything necessary to deter and fight Russian aggression,” the Pentagon representative added.

Earlier, the US Ministry of Defense stated that by the end of Joe Biden’s presidential term, they intend to use all remaining funds for programs to support Ukraine.

Donald Trump won the US presidential elections, the change of administration and transfer of power should take place on January 20.
